What We Do

BuildForWho is a product validation tool that analyzes publicly available conversations from Reddit, Hacker News, Indie Hackers, and similar platforms to help founders validate product ideas before building.

What Data We Analyze

We analyze public conversations only — text content that users have voluntarily posted in open, publicly accessible communities and forums. This includes:

• Reddit posts and comments from public subreddits
• Hacker News posts and comment threads
• Indie Hackers public posts and discussions
• Other publicly accessible community forums and discussion platforms

We do not access:

• Private messages or DMs
• Password-protected or members-only content
• Email addresses, phone numbers, or contact information
• Content from private subreddits or closed communities

What We Collect From You

Almost nothing.

When you use BuildForWho, we collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Your product idea description — the text you submit for validation
• Payment information — processed securely through Stripe (we never see your card details)
• Email address — only if you create an account to save validations

We do not use tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics beyond basic server logs.

What We Don't Collect

• No browsing history
• No location tracking
• No device fingerprinting
• No social media profiles
• No third-party data brokers

How We Use Your Data

Your product idea description is used exclusively to generate search queries and analyze relevant public conversations. We use it to:

1. Generate precise search terms to find relevant conversations
2. Analyze demand, urgency, and pain signals
3. Generate your validation report

We do not:

• Sell your data
• Share your ideas with third parties
• Use your ideas to train AI models for other users
• Store your validation reports permanently (unless you create an account)

Data Retention

Without an account: Your validation report is generated in real-time and accessible only through your browser session. Once you close the tab, it's gone. We don't store it.

With an account: Your validation reports are stored encrypted and associated with your account. You can delete them at any time from your dashboard.

Payment data: Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your payment information.

Public Conversations & Ethics

BuildForWho analyzes conversations that users have posted publicly. This content is already indexed by search engines and accessible to anyone on the internet.

However, we take ethics seriously:

• We do not extract personal contact information (emails, phone numbers, addresses)
• We anonymize usernames in customer lists unless users explicitly include their contact info in their public post
• We do not scrape private communities, paywalled content, or members-only forums
• We respect robots.txt and platform terms of service

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data — request a copy of any data we hold about you
• Delete your data — request deletion of your account and all associated validation reports
• Opt out — stop using the service at any time with no penalty
• Correct your data — update your email or account information

Cookies & Tracking

BuildForWho uses minimal cookies only for:

• Session management (keeping you logged in)
• Basic security (CSRF protection)

We do not use:

• Advertising cookies
• Third-party tracking pixels (Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, etc.)
• Cross-site tracking

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Stripe — payment processing (they have their own privacy policy)
• Cloudflare — hosting and DDoS protection
• OpenAI / Anthropic — AI models for conversation analysis (no personal data sent)

Data Security

We take security seriously:

• All data transmitted over HTTPS
• Validation reports stored encrypted at rest
• Payment data handled exclusively by PCI-compliant Stripe
• Regular security audits

Children's Privacy

BuildForWho is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email (if you have an account) or by posting a notice on our website.
